After a hard, frustrating day of hanging banners around the town for Woofstock this Saturday. I got a great e-mail from our wonderful ad representative, John Jensen, at The Free Press showing Woofstock getting front page coverage!

ROCKY DISCUSSES WOOFSTOCK FROM HIS HEAVENLY LOCATION
Well, there we were; Larkin, Zoe, Ace, Jessie and I along with the whole gang of canines from Lincoln County, perched on a fluffy, heavenly cloud ready to enjoy this year’s WOOFSTOCK. It always takes place on the first Saturday in August (St. Peter has a calendar for us) but all was quiet at The Lincoln Home. Nothing was going on, and we were upset! “Haven’t you been in touch with your person down there in South Bristol, Rocky?” asked Zoe. “I really didn’t want to bother him, He’s got his hands full with Tillie, my replacement.” I replied. Well, I finally did make contact (3am is best for our little talks) and learned that WOOFSTOCK will be held on Saturday, September 12th from 9:30am-3pm at The Round Top Farm on Business Route 1.
“So what’s going to happen at WOOFSTOCK this year?”inquired Jessie. That got the attention of the whole group, so I told them that they show will start with a Parade of Breeds, just like last year, with interesting comments about each dog in the Parade. Then there will be a flyball demonstration with Flyball MAINEiacs, then then the folks will learn about acupuncture for animals from Abigail Strobbe, DVM (“Hold it!” shouted Larkin. “What’s this acupuncture?”. “Well,” I said, “It’s…ah…sorta…. has to do with sticking needles into dogs and cats to make them feel better.”, I explained, hesitatingly. We all agreed we would tune in to see how sticking needles into our friends would be good).
I went on to tell them that Thom Lambert would be back with an Agility Demonstration. “That guy is quite the dog trainer!” exclaimed Ace. “He knows more about us than we do!”. Then at noon there will be Freestyle Doggie Dancing with GoodDogz Training. “This I’ve got to see!” exclaimed Zoe. “I use to dance around our house a lot, and I think I’ll do a little dance right now.”
Moving on, I explained that there will be lots of free samples, a raffle, games, pet services, and other fun stuff throughout the day,
The Rotary Club will be providing lots of good food for the folks and will put on the annual Family Fun Dog Show that will begin at 1pm. I was about to say more about the canine show, but it was nap time in DH (remember? That’s “Doggie Heaven”).

DownEast Magazine, a media sponsor for Woofstock, has Woofstock2009 mentioned in their September issue!
“Jimi and Janis aren’t the headliners at this furry festival. Instead, look for Fido and Spot to bask in the four-legged love. Woofstock is a one-day dog fest — an ideal spot for bringing, or finding, man’s best friend. Dogs can sample regional pet products, watch demonstrations, and frolic with friends. Human attendants can have some fun perusing the food (don’t miss the Round Top ice cream), raffles, silent auctions, and — the best part — dogs from animal shelters and rescue leagues from all around the state, just waiting to go home with you.”

Spreading the word about this non-profit event is essential in helping the rescues and shelter recieve the most money possible. Just download one of the two flyers below, print and hang! Just like that, you too have contributed to the amazingly giving event known as Woofstock! ![]()

The first two methods of giving to this great cause is looking great. Two 100% cotton t-shirts are available for pre-order for the low low price of $15. Shirts will ship September 7th, or will be held at the store for you to pickup.

Don’t need a shirt, and not attending Woofstock2009? Give by visiting the greatest nation in the world!
The fourth way is to be a staff volunteer for the event. The event is bigger than ever, and we could use your help! Click here to be a volunteer!
I designed this short this morning as a possible t-shirt for the Woofstock2009 event. 100% of the proceeds of the t-shirt sales goes to the attending shelters and rescues, but we do not to invest money to make the t-shirts if there is no interest. Is it possible this one is a little too out there? Let me know what you think.
I was going for a Mad Men parody, but I am not sure if the show is popular enough translate into T-shirt sales. Take note that a positive review doesn’t put you on the hook for a shirt
!
The Woofstock2009 is now officially launched. We are excited to now have a digital home for this event, and the ability to give everyone more information and access to the event as well. We will be adding more over the next couple of weeks, and giving daily blog updates as more details become concrete for the event.
Pre-orders for Woofstock2009 T-shirts and other collectibles will start on July 15th. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts and collectibles will go to the attending shelters and rescues.
I highly encourage everyone to contact us, comment on posts photos, tag known people in photos, spread the word to your family, friends and colleagues. The more people you tell the more animals that can be helped.
Bark at ya’ later,
Dan Martin
